Main Points

Rate Increases for 2025

Wastewater treatment rates will increase 3% beginning in January 2025. Average single-family and large, multi-family dwelling rates will increase from $579 to $596. Fees are billed quarterly. An accessory dwelling, or small family dwelling will increase from $390 annually to $402 annually.

The number of fixtures -- sinks, toilets and other appliances that use water --determines how a dwelling or a commercial property is rated. Commercial rates are based on a dollar amount per 1,000 gallons. Commercial users’ rates will increase from $10.947 per 1,000 gallons to $11.275 per 1,000 gallons beginning in 2025. For example, the annual cost for a small retail shop will increase from $408 annually to $420 annually.

The minimum tap fee for new construction will increase from $4,455 to $4,650.

2025 Budget includes $33K for Staff to Meet Regulatory Requirements for Release into the River

Projected expenses EPSD for 2025 are $1,942,016 and projected revenues are $ 2,625,600. Expenses include $33,000 for a computerized model of the wastewater treatment plant. This will allow staff to update equipment and water lines to meet CO regulatory requirements before treated water is released into the Big Thompson River.

Staff to Receive 5% Raise

The budget also includes a 5% raise for all staff. The directors voted against increasing the $85 per meeting that directors are paid.

The EPSD board also reviewed monthly expenditures and progress on installation and upgrades, with no significant changes.

Members of the EPSD Board: Chair Todd M. Plummer, Vice Chair Anthony Ricciardi, Treasurer F.R. Houser, Ryan Leahy, Jennifer Waters. Three board positions expire in 2025. Estes Valley Voice reports that people interested to be a candidate in any of the special district elections can apply between Jan. 26 and Feb. 20. (Estes Park Health also seeks new members this spring. Applicants for these special districts are not required to collect signatures.)
