Public Comment on mill levy cuts

A commenter suggested property taxes should be reduced via a mill levy reduction vs property tax credits. Commissioner Stephens commented that the future is too uncertain for a permanent mill levy reduction because of potential impacts from Proposition HH, continued real estate fluctuations and what future policies may happen at the state level along with unforeseen needs or situations that may need to be funded at the county level. She also stated that if Proposition HH fails there will be property tax credits. Larimer agrees to support Operation and Maintenance of Boxelder Creek Watershed Dams

Larimer County, City of Fort Collins, North Poudre Irrigation Company, Town of Timnath, and Town of Wellington will jointly support the Operation and Maintenance of Boxelder Creek Watershed Dams. This agreement and installation of an emergency flood warning system will bring the flood control dams into full compliance with state requirements for operation and maintenance of these three facilities. Currently, all 3 have a high hazard dam safety rating. Larimer County will pay $416,325 in five equal annual payments of $83,265. $150,000 had previously been budgeted towards this need.

Operation Green Light for Veterans begins Nov. 6

A Proclamation Supporting the annual Operation Green Light for Veterans Nov. 6-12, 2023, passed 2-0. Larimer County appreciates the sacrifices of our United States Military Personnel and believes specific recognition should be given to them in appreciation of their service and to demonstrate the honor and support they have earned. County buildings will be illuminated with green lighting during the week as done in prior years.

County Managers Update: FEMA

FEMA training occurred last week and 75 participants from the region will participate in a 2024 simulated training event. The topic of the training is being withheld until the event.

Questions to Consider

If Proposition HH passes will there be property tax credits?

How will fixing the dams on Boxelder Creek affect the budgets of the four communities paying?
