From the Board of Commissioners website:
“Larimer's three-member Board of County Commissioners is the main policy-making body in the County and works to represent the interest of the citizens of Larimer County at local, state and national levels. Commissioners are elected at large from one of three geographic districts for four-year staggered terms.  In Larimer County, Commissioners are limited to serving three four-year terms.”

Highlights

County Commissioners unanimously approved a Proclamation declaring April 21-27, 2024 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

County Manager Volker reported that County departments have begun posting annual reports for 2023. They can be found on the County website by searching for “annual reports”. The reports provide information on what has been done as well as plans for the future.

After the Pledge of Allegiance, the Commissioners opened for public comment. There was none.

After approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and a review of next week’s meetings, Commissioner Kefalas reviewed the Consent Agenda that was unanimously approved.

The Consent Agenda included:

  • Grant award from Colorado State Forest Service of $102,000 to Larimer County Department of Natural Resources to complete a forest health project at Hermit Park Open Space in the Estes Valley.
  • Easement granted by the County for a sewer main line that is on County property but was not of record at the time of purchase. This documents the pre-existing use on the Long View Farms Open Space.
  • Grant award between the County’s Department of Natural Resources Department and the Bureau of Reclamation (BOR) for $228,000 to purchase new boat docks, repave asphalt parking lots, construct the Inlet Bay to South Bay trail, and install broadband cable at BOR properties.
  • Letter of Support for the North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the 2025/2026 Multimodal Project Discretionary Grants application for the I-25 North Segment 5 Project.

The County Commissioners unanimously approved a Proclamation declaring April 21-27, 2024 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. This year’s theme is, “How would you help a victim of crime?” The County Manager, Commissioners, and the District Attorney’s Office reaffirmed the County’s commitment to creating a victim service and criminal justice response that assists all victims of crime. They shared their appreciation for the staff of the County, District Attorney, Sheriff’s offices and community organizations who claim a deep commitment to improving response to all victims of crime so that they may find relevant assistance, support, justice, and peace. The Commissioners noted the effective partnerships across organizations to support crime victims. In addition, they recognized the difficulty of the work and the need to support staff who often deal with secondary trauma.
